Laudetur Iesu Christus! This week are the Rogation Days, a three day period of prayer (and formerly penance) that precedes the feast of the Ascension. It concluded with a special blessing over the fields. Latin Mass & 40 Hours devotion – this week there will be 2 opportunities (back to back) to attend a Solemn High Mass, and to participate in the 40 Hours devotion:

Ascension Thursday May 30: 7pm, Annual Solemn High Orchestral Mass at St. Ann with the Carolina Catholic Chorale and orchestra. Along with the chants, sacred music will be the beautiful MASS in G of Franz Schubert.  Immediately after Mass, St. Ann will begin its annual 40 Hours devotion of Eucharistic Adoration ending 3pm Saturday June 1. Friday May 31 – Feast of the Queenship of Mary: 7pm Solemn High Mass, Cathedral of St. Patrick. For the music settings, it will be Mass for Four Voices by 16^th century composer Michelangelo Grancini; motets by Palestrina and Anerio as well as the usual proper chants.

The Cathedral is also organizing a special 40 Hours devotion surrounding this Mass (1pm May 30 – ends 8am June 1), to pray to prevent the opening of the new Planned Parenthood abortion facility nearby. Sign up: https://stpatricks.org/forty-hours
