Laudetur Iesus Christus! We thank everyone for attending our annual “close of Christmas” celebration this past Sunday and extend our thanks to the Cantate Domino Latin Choir for their beautiful singing during Mass, and afterwards.
Candlemas this Saturday (February 2nd) … Also First Saturday!:
This Saturday is not only Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Candlemas), it is also a First Saturday. Following the traditional Liturgical Ordo, Candlemas marks the fortieth day after Christmas and the end of the extended Christmas season. There are three Latin Masses in the greater Charlotte area of which we are aware.
Following tradition, these parishes will be blessing candles prior to Mass and additionally may have processions incorporated into the liturgy. Parishioners are invited to bring their own candles in from home to be blessed. Please take note of the time of the candle blessing, and be sure to have your candles in the appropriate place before the blessing begins.
– St. Ann, Charlotte, NC: Low Mass: 9:00 am (Candle Blessing at 9:00 am)
– St. Thomas Aquinas, Charlotte, NC: Solemn High Mass: 10:00 am (Candle Blessing at 9:30 am)
– St. John the Baptist, Tryon, NC: High Mass: 8:30 am (Not sure if there will be a candles blessing … bring candles just in case)
