Please consider bringing a plate of cookies to share. (N.B. this year we’re holding the celebration a few weeks early).

Candlemas – Saturday February 2nd
Saturday February 2nd is the Feast of the Purification, or otherwise known as the Feast of the Candles (Candlemas). It commemorates Mary’s obedience to the Mosaic law by submitting herself to the Temple for the ritual purification, as commanded in Leviticus.  The tradition was for Catholics to bring all their candles for the year in to be blessed on this feast day. Here are the Masses thus far:

  • St. Ann: A Latin Mass will be offered at 9 AM.
  • St. John the Baptist parish in Tryon, NC (2 hours west of Charlotte): A High Mass (Latin) will be offered at 8:30 AM.
